NJ friends! In a stage and screen double bill, Luna Stage in West Orange will be screening Midnights this weekend with performances of J.Stephen Brantley’s award-winning play Pirira, directed by Luna’s new Artistic Director Ari Laura Kreith:

Friday, Oct. 19th, 7:15pm: Midnights followed by Pirira at 8pm Sunday, Oct. 21st, 3:00pm: Pirira followed by Midnights

LUNA STAGE, 555 Valley Street, West Orange, NJ Tickets: www.lunastage.org/pirira

Both works deal with decent people in dangerous situations who, against the odds, attempt to do the right thing. A post-show conversation with both directors will follow the production. Total Running time for the play and the film: 2 hours.

PIRIRA: Set in Malawi amidst riots that took place in the city of Llilongwe on July 20, 2011, Pirira explores the challenges of international aid across interpersonal borders, and asks how we bridge seemingly impossible cultural divides. The play is inspired, in part, by Brantley’s experiences as a writer for Madonna’s NGO, Raising Malawi, and also by William Kamkwamba’s autobiographical "The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind".

Pirira runs Thursday-Sunday from October 4-28.
